SHACS Project in Haiti

SHACS first missionary trip was on 2008, SHACS provided toys, clothes and food drive for the orphans. On February 2010, SHACS deployed to Haiti with 15 Portland Firefighters, Doctors and Nurses to provide Medical care, food and temporary assistance to people in needs.

On January 12, 2010, a massive 7.0 magnitude Earthquake and its subsequent aftershock destroyed many of the building in the city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti and the surrounding villages and left thousands homeless. With the death toll of over 230,000 and 300, 000 people injured and homeless, the carthquake has changed the lives a nearly all Haitians. SHACS. (Society for Haitian Arts, Culture and Social Support) currently operating a tent camp community serving orphaned Haitian Children in Croix-des-Bouquets, a town 12.9km east of Port-au-Prince. S.H.A.C.S. goal is to provide a safe shelter and access to education for 50 children and is working with Architects without Borders-Oregon to develop the orphanage and education center Food distribution at the tent Orphanage in Haiti
